Oil & Gas acquired PII Pipeline Solutions in March Role Summary/Purpose The Data Analyst assesses and interprets the processed data to determine faults, damage or anomalies within the pipeline and produce technical reports based on the analysis of the pipeline. Essential Responsibilities � Assess and interpret the processed data to differentiate between, welding faults, mill faults, mechanical damage, and other pipeline anomalies, internal and external metal loss. � Assess defect significance based on formulae and parameters defined in International Pipeline Repair Codes and by the client. � Produce technical reports based on the analysis of the pipeline. � Respond to client technical inquiries and integrity concerns. � Provide technical expertise to assist the Sales Department. � Confer closely with Operations Department staff to identify and resolve problems with equipment and inspection data. � Resolve any difficulties in locating pipeline defects and if necessary recommend an appropriate Non-Destructive Test technique to identify and measure pipeline defects. � Through correlation data from site measurements and inspection data, analyze variances and prepare summary reports for management to monitor system performance and product quality � Occasionally present the results of pipeline analysis to commercial clients. � Must comply with all company policies and procedures. � Must produce accurate reports of a high quality. � Must meet reporting deadlines. � Respond to client queries promptly and professionally. � Abide by all GE Corporate and local policies and procedures including but not limited to Integrity, Diversity, Proprietary Information, Conflict of Interest, QMS and EHS � Work in a safe manner and ensure appropriate training is taken to do tasks safely � Report any accidents or injuries while on the job � Oversee cubicle safety & good house keeping practices of team members � If providing any direction to others, ensure that he/she has the skills, knowledge and ability to do the task safely � Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications/Requirements Skills and Knowledge � Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. � Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. � Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy. � Methodical approach to analysis and problem solving. � Ability to meet reporting time scales and meet deadlines. � Ability to respond to client technical inquiries. � Ability and desire to sustain a high degree of accuracy at all times. � Ability to work in an independent manner. � Initiative in problem solving. Required Education and Experience � Any combination of education and experience that would be likely to produce the required knowledge, skills and abilities. � Engineering Degree or Technologist Diploma is preferred. � A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in an Engineering environment is required. � Strong analytical and interpretation skills. � High level of computer literacy. � Working knowledge of the pipeline industry, its standards and practices is essential. � Customer service attitude is essential, with experience of client contact in previous positions.
