Position reports to the VP of Engineering and is responsible for managing and providing leadership to the pipeline engineering staff.

Directs overall project management activities for the design and construction of pipeline engineering projects. Plans, directs and controls the activities of engineering or technical personnel and services for assigned projects. Coordinates activities with other engineering units, as well as other related organizations e.g. operations, purchasing, environmental affairs, safety, etc. Contracts for and supervises 3rd party personnel as required. Decisions may involve capital expenditures, project scoping, completion and implementation and engineering design.

Essential duties and responsibilities:. Directs project management activities such as: analysis and interpretation; economic/feasibility/productivity studies, scope definition, development of project cost estimates, timetables, work schedules and cost control. Effectively direct the planning, scheduling, and management of multiple capital and operational projects concurrently to meet Kinder Morgan's pipeline needs and expectations. Oversee and manage Project Managers and contractors to ensure projects and schedules are met. Confers with and advises subordinates on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems and priorities and methods. Organize projects in the Company's financial control system, review and manage expenditures and commitments, and prepare monthly cost control reports. Support Management, Business Development and Operations by preparing feasibility studies, project scopes, cost estimates, and execution plans for pipeline system modifications, relocations, maintenance and expansion projects. Monitors projects/activities to assure overall conformance to engineering, company and operations plans and objectives as well as related contractual, engineering governmental and company requirements. Provide technical support including hydraulic and surge analyses, pump and driver evaluations, pipeline capacity studies, design of pipeline modifications, and relocations. Ensures development and training of staff and manages employee performance issues and the annual Performance Management Process. Position RequirementsMinimum requirements:Education:.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (civil, mechanical, petroleum or chemical) or equivalent professional experience. Training in all aspects of liquid pipeline design and operation, and project management techniques including project scoping and estimating utilizing work breakdown structures, cost and schedule control systems, design and construction management, team building, resource planning, procurement, and permitting. Experience / Specific Knowledge:.

At least 10 or more years of related technical experience with a minimum of five years experience in liquid pipeline engineering and large project management involving the design, construction, and operation of cross country pipelines, and facilities associated with hazardous liquid pipelines and related pump, storage, and metering facilities. Must have full compliment of project management skills including project scoping and estimating utilizing work breakdown structures, cost and schedule control, design and construction management, team building, resource planning, procurement, and permitting. Requires comprehensive knowledge of advanced techniques of own technical field and related sciences and disciplines. Must have strong communication, leadership skills as well as strong analytical skills to solve problems and determine appropriate courses of action. Working knowledge of applicable regulations and agencies such as DOT, OSHA , and various state counterparts. Familiarity with NEC, ASME , API, and ASTM specifications, standards, and recommended practices. Certification, licenses, registrations:.

Incumbent operates in a highly technical environment. Communicates with Group management, peers and subordinates in engineering and operations organizations to provide technical expertise, advise on and coordinate unit activities. Well-balanced interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communications skills are required.
