Description Title: Director/Senior Director Strategic Pipeline Implementation Lead Location: MD, Gaithersburg - Corporate Headquarters Req: 02673 Essential Job Functions: ? Serve as Operations Functional Expert on the PDT, working collaboratively and cross-functionally with other PDT members contributing to product vision, strategy, plans & delivery ? An empowered representative of the function ? must consult with functional leaders and bring functional view to the table to support PDT decision-making and planning ? Align on decisions once made; active communication and active support for PDT decisions, back to function, sub-team and other stakeholders ? Accountable to PDT and Operations Leadership for project-specific functional plan and deliverables. ? Manage and execute functional plan and budgets, aligned with the global product strategy ? Ensures attendance of additional functional expertise at PDT based on agendas. ? Ensures results are achieved by monitoring timelines, resources, budgets and deliverables (in conjunction with functional project management where applicable) ? Works with PDT team members to seek solutions for potential issues even if outside of functional area. ? Professional business communication skills Position Summary: The Product Development Team (PDT) is a cross-functional team of leaders that creates, manages and executes the integrated Product Development Plan (iPDP) for products they are assigned. The PDTs scope covers development and life cycle management activities occurring between CD nomination through launch and beyond to the point at which R&D investment in the product is completed at the end of life-cycle management, or until a decision is made to stop development of the molecule for other reasons. PDTs are empowered to drive both strategic and operational drug development decisions (including the development of iPDPs), aligning functional input from PDT members (Functional Leads) into a single team view. The skills, competencies and expertise of the team reflect the needs of the individual products stage of development. Position Requirements The PDT is collectively responsible for the decisions and recommendations they make to the R&D governance structure. PDTs are accountable to R&D Governance for the overall development of their assigned product. The Operations PDT Member must work cross-functionally and collaboratively with other PDT Functional Leads to ensure quality, aligned decision-making and planning. Skilled and accountable membership of PDTs is critical to the success of PDTs and the organization. The Operations PDT representative serves as a champion of the project, actively communicating, including updates into operations and relevant sub-teams and seeking the view of line managers and other key stakeholders. PDT functional leads are the functional experts and are accountable to the Product Development Team Leader PDTL for integrating and delivering their functions contribution to the development of the product. The Ops PDT member will serve on several different PDTs as dictated by scope, and contributes to all relevant stages of the project providing general and specific input in relation to knowledge, skills, experience and operations accountabilities and responsibilities. This responsibility includes preparation of relevant sections of the iPDP, planning and execution, risk and opportunity management and problem solving. Executing functional plans on behalf of the PDT under the scope of the agreed iPDP to time, cost and quality and managing functional budgets within the scope of the approved iPDP is critical; and, securing functional resources and planning must be delivered to support the approved plan. The Ops PDT representative will have a detailed understanding of all aspects of Operations including, but not limited to Manufacturing Capabilities and Capacity constraints, Supply Chain and Distribution and Quality Assurance and Control. Active communications between Operations management, key Operations functions, PDT members and sub-teams is critical to ensure alignment and project success. Supervisory Relationships: Generally accomplishes results through lower management levels. Determines and establishes organizational structures and supervisory relationships, subject to top management approval. Often responsible for managing a major segment of the company. Operations Involvement / Direct Work Involvement: Responsible for the successful operation of activities of major significance to the organization. Rarely becomes involved in daily operational activities. Is more concerned to see that overall budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained. Educational Requirements BS: Science or Engineering field required MS/PhD: Chemical Engineering or Biological Sciences Field preferred Typical Experience: 16-20 years experience with a BS 12-16 years experience with a MS 8-12 years experience with a Ph.D. Experience should include manufacturing operations and technical support for the Director and Sr. Director positions, respectively.
