Houston based company is one of North America's largest specialty retailers of men's apparel with 1,294 stores. The stores carry a full selection of designer, brand name and private label suits, sport coats, furnishings and accessories.

Position Description:

The application developer role will work with the E-commerce development group to design, develop, and implement Endeca and ultimately integrate to WebSphere E-commerce applications.

The Application developer will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and upgrading the newly installed Endeca tools, while providing development assistance to the existing WCS systems and applications as required. This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to assist the development team on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems.

Acquisition Deployment:

Assist with the development and deployment of Endeca, and/or enhancements to existing WebSphere commerce applications and integrations throughout the enterprise. Assist in indexing and tagging non-merchandise content to product content.

Assist in the development of integrations between Endeca, WebSphere Commerce and other 3rd party systems as required. Provide best practice expertise on such development efforts, with a focus on the WCS Product Catalog. Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.

Formal Education:

Four-year college degree in Computer Science (or similar degree).

Knowledge Experience:

Extensive working experience with the Endeca search platform version 6 ( Endeca Commerce Suite and IAP) including applications development, integration and systems administration.

Expert and ability to develop within the following Endeca components: Developer Studio, Pipeline configuration, Web Studio, PageBuilder, MDEX engine, index build and propagation process. 5 years direct experience in WebSphere E-commerce development and/or programming design and systems management on multiple technology platforms. WebSphere Commerce Catalog Module expertise required. 8 years direct experience in software development and/or programming design and systems management on multiple technology platforms. Direct, hands-on experience with automated software and system management tools. Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.

The candidate for this position should be technically fluent in several programming languages including but not limited to Endeca Java API, J2EE , Java, SQL, Oracle, JDBC , JSP, JSTL , EJB, AJAX , Servlets, DOJO , DHTML , JavaScript, Web Services, IBM MQ, JMS, JNDI , XML, JUnit, Unix and Shell Scripting.

Experience with performance tuning of web applications, to make code as efficient as possible. The candidate should have thorough understanding of SDLC , through production implementation and post implementation. Knowledge of database design and file management techniques.

Knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards. Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives. Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

Defect and change tracking tools database development, administration and version control tools like StarTeam/SVN.

Preferred Skills:

5 years of E-commerce web experience with high traffic, volume and performance websites. In depth retail experience. Experience with Commerce Catalog and Product module design and development is desirable.

Experience in design and development of shopping cart components is desirable.
