Description Summary: Seattle Genetics is seeking an individual with strong experience in product and pipeline communications who can help reinforce the companys leading position in cancer therapy development. The individual must have 3 to 5 years of increasing experience in public relations and communications roles within the context of a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company with marketed products and a robust pipeline. The individual will be responsible for pipeline communications in the therapeutic areas of breast cancer, cervical cancer and certain hematological cancers across multiple Seattle Genetics investigational compounds. Overall, he or she will be responsible for proactively ensuring news flow that highlights Seattle Genetics products both internally and externally, and protects and enhances the companys reputation among its constituents. He or she must also be willing to share ideas, information and best practices, while providing counsel to the organization. The position will work closely with the associate director of pipeline communications, director of patient advocacy, and vice president of investor relations, as well as key internal stakeholders. Responsibilities: Act as main company contact for communications efforts for specific investigational compoundsDevelop and execute strategic, external and internal communications strategies for key pipeline areas of responsibilityProvide strategy, counsel and execution of key pipeline program activities that include:Building relationships with key Global Product Team members (Clinical, Medical, Commercial, Program Lead) to ensure that their external communications needs are metDeveloping external communications materials that highlight key pipeline programsAttending regular meetings focused on Seattle Genetics pipelineWorking closely and collaboratively with fellow pipeline and products communicators, director of patient advocacy, and investor relationsBuilding strong relationships with partner companies and communications team membersEnsure accurate and well-coordinated scientific exchange with all mediaMaintain/build working relationships with relevant, influential health journalists and bloggers, as neededLeverage Seattle Genetics presence at medical meetings to support corporate and pipeline objectives, and enhance key relationshipsAssess results through measurable objectives and indicators; adapt communications strategies as appropriateManage agency team(s) and budgetsProvide innovative ideas and recommendations for improvement on a regular basisQualifications: Experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical communications, with at least 3 to 5 years of experience providing communication support for products and/or investigational compounds Experience implementing communications strategies and programs in a highly regulated environment Strong management, planning and implementation skills, as well as a creative and effective approach to problem solving Excellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to influence and persuade Ability to deliver in high-pressure situations and with short deadlinesRelevant academic qualifications (e.g., undergraduate or post-graduate degree in public relations, public affairs, journalism or similar); Technical background in life science Travel Requirements: Minimal travel required
