Position Purpose:

The Pipeline Integrity Risk Analyst integrates and analyzes various types of pipeline system data to help determine the potential threats to the natural gas transmission and distribution systems.  The Analyst creates derivative reports from existing reports/dashboards or data from systems with the primary responsibility to provide recommendations to the Transmission Integrity Management Program (TIMP) and Distribution Integrity Management Program (DIMP) teams to help reduce system risk. 

This position coordinates with the Gas Asset Data Quality team to ensure that necessary data is being captured in a system of record and subsequently the data can be consumed by risk models and other analytical tools and also works with the Gas Data Performance & Analytics team to design dashboards for the TIMP, DIMP, and System Integrity teams.

Nature and Scope:

The Pipeline Integrity Risk Analyst is responsible for these activities specifically for TIMP and DIMP:

  • Gather, review, integrate, and analyze pipeline system data
  • Coordinate with mapping and other data owners to make certain necessary data is captured
  • Review reports/metrics and develop solutions for issues noted
  • Ensure the development and implementation of methodologies to assess, prioritize, and mitigate risks to the piping infrastructure
  • Perform potential threat impact identification/threat analysis/risk assessments
  • Lead subject matter expert risk validation
  • Perform High Consequence Area (HCA) & Class Locations studies (specifically for TIMP)
  • Run TIMP and DIMP risk models (e.g. Trascue, in-house models, consultants models) and coordinate with Engineers/Program Managers to refine results
  • Prioritize capital/O&M projects that are designed to mitigate system risk based on risk profile
  • Develop/Document preventative & mitigative strategy/measures (specifically for TIMP)
  • Identify accelerated actions and other programs to address risk (specifically for DIMP)
  • Develop and maintain of performance measures for TIMP and DIMP
  • Prepare special studies based on specific requests

  • Manage pipeline system data and integrate into systems of records
  • Prepare special studies based on specific requests
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

Minimum Education

  • BS/BA degree in science, analytics, business, or related field

Desired Education

  • Advanced degree in a related field

Experience, Skills & Competencies:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of practical experience in risk assessment and/or program management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge and experience in defining project requirements and/or development of business process work flows and policies/ procedures
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication, presentation, planning skills
  • Effectively lead teams of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to continuously improve organizational performance while understanding and accounting for business impacts
  • Highly proficient in the use of information systems, including PC applications, such as MS Access, Word, and Excel
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment along with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic and stressful environment
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and on teams
  • Demonstrated behaviors that align with company shared values

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least one (1) year of experience in the natural gas industry
  • Familiarity with Companys software applications (e.g., SharePoint, DCMS, S2K, GIS, etc.)
  • Familiarity with database programing and design (SQL, SAS, Oracle, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of the gas industry
  • Experience making risk assessment decisions using integrity management principles
  • Demonstrated effective use of interpersonal skills and relational management skills (leadership, communication, problem solving, influencing, negotiating, etc.)

Physical/Other Requirements:

  • Sedentary work exerting negligible amount of force frequently or constantly and/or up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
  • Vision and hearing acuity for communication with others
  • Able to be flexible and work additional hours as needed
  • Ability to bend and stoop for filing,

  • Able to view a computer terminal for long periods of time
  • Manual dexterity for operating computer and office equipment
  • Must be available to travel on a regular basis, with frequent overnight stay
