General Information The position is based in Lagrange, Indiana and reports to a Construction Services Crew Leader while providing team mechanical support for Construction Services in the US. The position is responsible for supporting Pipeline Construction activity with mechanical activities associated with pipeline maintenance. The incumbent will perform various duties on high pressure pipelines. Responsibilities * General mechanical roles including sandblasting, hand exposing of pipe, pipe coating removal and replacement, pipe locating, assisting welders, fencing, water pump operations, de-watering systems, oxy-acetylene torch cutting, and others as required; * Operation and maintenance of various types of equipment including sandblaster, skid steers, bolt tensioning, grinders, pumps, etc.; * Assist in Pipeline pressure tests, operation of air movers, equipment spotting, concrete work; * Job Safety Analysis (JSA) review and creation of JSA's; * Lead 3rd party contractors as needed; * Ensure all work tasks and duties comply with TransCanada's Operating Procedures and Community, Safety & Environment policies, procedures and related legislation; * Other tasks as required. QualIfications and Education Qualifications * High degree of respect for safe work habits; * Great work attitude; * Ability to develop an understanding of Company practices and procedures and apply them to a site specific procedure; * Ability to obtain Operator Qualifications as required for specific tasks assigned; * Demonstrated concern for people, utilizing effective interpersonal skills; * Ability to work effectively in a team environment while acting independently in the execution of pipeline maintenance; * Ability to safely and effectively operate powered tools such as drills, grinders, torches, etc.; * Ability to perform physically demanding mechanical duties as required; * Ability to work shift work (8/6) away from home for extended periods; * Strong planning and organization skills; * Willingness to learn and develop new skills and work hard. Education / Experience * High school diploma or GED required; * Minimum 2 years working in a mechanical related environment preferred; * CDL License would be an asset; * Pipeline industry experience would be an asset; * Computer literacy (windows, word, other) would be an asset. *This position requires candidates to: * Have and maintain a valid driver's license; * Provide a driver's abstract for review; * Successfully complete a pre- employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing; * Be available for overtime, extended work hours, and call-outs as needed; * Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home. *Depending on the qualifications of the applicants, the successful candidate may be offered a position at a more appropriate level and/or ladder.
