Pipeline Welding Specialist (Agawam, MA) tools ▼ Title: Pipeline Welding Specialist (Agawam, MA)Location: Massachusetts-AgawamPipeline Welding Specialist El Paso Corporation owns and operates North America's largest natural gas pipeline system. We are currently looking to add an experienced, qualified and skilled Pipeline Welding Specialist to our Central Maintenance Division located in Agawam, MA. Qualified candidates must possess knowledge, skills and job related experience in order to perform tasks and assignments associated with pipeline design, construction, operations and maintenance of natural gas pipelines. This position requires the individual to follow all safety policies so that the tasks and assignments are completed in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, with an emphasis on finishing each day incident and injury free. Daily responsibilities include performing pipe fabrication welds, in-service welds, tie-ins welds and hot taps on steel pipelines that range in various sizes up to 42 O.D. Incumbent is required to complete pipeline operations and maintenance tasks and projects in support of plant, pipeline, corrosion, measurement, controls and engineering. Incumbent will be required to pass El Paso Corporation's welding qualification tests according to API 1104 utilizing Group I, II and I electrodes. Incumbent must pass the welding qualification tests within 3 months of employment date. Must attain qualification in P.I.P.E.S. (Pipeline Investigation and Pipeline Evaluation) including corrosion and non-destructive evaluation tasks within two years. The Welding Specialist will report to a Crew Leader to ensure consistency in maintenance practices. Other responsibilities include performing administrative tasks such as: ordering and receiving parts and material, personal timesheets and expense accounts, and maintaining a Company vehicle. The position requires acting as a Company representative when interacting with contractors and vendors. Incumbent may also be required to work as a welder's helper and as a Pipeline Maintenance Specialist and the ability to operate heavy equipment is a plus. A typical work schedule is Monday through Thursday, ten hours per day. This position requires a significant amount of overnight travel to support operation areas throughout the company, working other than normal hours, overtime, schedule changes, the ability to respond to call-outs, and work in adverse weather and extreme temperature conditions.
