    Feature request: RSS feed

    [edit]

I’m a longtime reader of the current events portal, and I’ve been using a third-party RSS feed to consume it. Sometime within the last couple of weeks, that third-party feed stopped updating. It would be great to have an officially supported RSS feed that updates daily instead of relying on fragile third-party solutions. Exchgr (talk) 15:09, 12 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I was probably relying on the same feed as you. A new one is available at RSSHub 116.48.127.99 (talk) 17:16, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The "Ongoing" tab has typically has a link to the current events portal. The link now appears to be gone. I am curious as to why this has happened.🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 21:15, 20 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I second this, I strongly support this link being re-instated, as I believe this is the most obvious spot for this link to go. Cheers! Johnson524 21:26, 20 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Per discussion at Wikipedia talk:In the news#Should there be a link to Portal:Current Events? (permanent link). —andrybak (talk) 00:52, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    It's a disgrace, Joe.
The link should definitely come back, having unclickable dead text, still in bold mind you!, makes very little sense to me, especially on the front page. If it's not clickable I think it should be removed entirely 109.79.9.127 (talk) 12:46, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I fully agree - strong support for link being reinstated. Houstonnotfromtx (talk) 06:47, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. It's particularly discordant because the Recent Deaths link is still clickable. 157.182.216.4 (talk) 08:26, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Same with "More current events" on the Portal:Current events page. Doyna Yar (talk) 13:31, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The reason that is not clickable is because the target page is the page you are viewing. - Fuzheado | Talk 14:19, 24 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I too was surprised that "Ongoing" was not linked anymore. But then I realized that further down in the box, there is a new, logical "More current events" link that points to Portal:Current events. To the average visitor, that is much more descriptive and makes a lot more sense. However, that doesn't necessarily preclude us keeping the "Ongoing" link for legacy purposes. There's no shame in having two paths to the same content. - Fuzheado | Talk 14:21, 24 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Update "Russian invasion of Ukraine" in Ongoing to "Russo-Ukrainian war (2022–present)" per the change in the article's title

    [edit]

See Talk:Russo-Ukrainian_war_(2022–present)#Requested_move_5_August_2025 for the requested move that led to the title change. JasonMacker (talk) 21:03, 24 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Do we really need current events pages for dates that are nearly a decade into the future? 2A0E:1D47:9085:D200:1479:37FD:EA26:64E (talk) 02:11, 4 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

There is a discussion about these pages at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Future months 2026 to 2036 -- John of Reading (talk) 06:47, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe add 2025 Alberta teachers' strike to the current events soon? It is happening in a few days and is in the news... ~Rafael (He, him) • talkguestbookprojects 14:24, 4 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

MfD for the months from January 2026 to December 2036
