Dell Medical School as a new model of academic medicine prioritizes community impact as a key measure of success.  An element of community impact is bolstering the capacity of our local ecosystem to build diverse, community-representative talent to fill the health professions jobs of the future.  Dell Medical School is launching a program in 2019 to assess and position it's expertise to address the needs of K-12 and workforce stakeholders through a K-12 health professions community of practice and related programming. 

We are looking for a flexible, self-starter, organized and analytical program coordinator with passion and ideally experience in addressing the needs of K-12 education.  The program coordinator will work with a team of medical and educational leaders, both at Dell Med and at UTeach Institute, to support all program needs.  Efficiency, eye to detail, a can-do approach to any and all challenges will be essential skills.  For the right candidate there will be ample room to creatively contribute and leverage passion for the development of youth and economic health of a community.

Program priorities that will need to be supported include

  • Creatively informing local school districts' plans to implement health professions programming
  • Defining the workforce needs for a rapidly evolving health and health care future.
  • Guiding curriculum and program developers on the core competencies that will define success for our youth in future health professions.
  • Supporting the development of a mentorship program for K-12 health professions pipeline needs.
  • Identifying areas of need that are best addressed collaboratively by stakeholders and piloting jointly-supported solutions

Responsibilities
  • Provide operational management for all programming components, working directly with the project director and supporting core team members as requested.
  • Develop and maintain project plans and/or tools to track deliverables and ensure successful completion of project initiatives.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings and ensure that all project team members and stakeholders receive regular and clear communication.
  • Independently collect and analyze data required for program development and pilot implementation.
  • Maintain well-organized records and documentation of project initiatives.
  • Identify, prioritize and track issues for project leadership consideration and decision.
  • Assist in the development of presentations, papers and other outputs to synthesize and summarize issues and results for various audiences.
  • Manage regular reporting and ad hoc analyses of program outcomes related to project initiatives.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Five or more years of experience in the K-12 educational space, which may include teaching experience, working for a policy non-profit, providing teacher training or a working with a professional service organization. Proven ability to manage complex tasks independently. Effective interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams. Commitment to supporting diversity and building robust educational and economic opportunities within the local community. Excellent customer service orientation and proven experience working with internal and external staff, collaborators and stakeholders. Familiarity with health professions workforce development, either through direct work experience in a health care institution or as a health care provider. Demonstrated excellent analytical skills, problem solving ability and strong critical thinking skills. Outstanding organizational and time-management skills. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Exceptionally organized with an eye to relevant detail. Demonstrated ability to execute and deliver results in a fast-paced and fluid work environment. Proficiency in working in a diverse stakeholder landscape, balancing competing interests. Salary Range

$48,000 + depending on qualifications
